Arboretum Walk - Washington Quad
Description:
Come tour a major campus sustainability success story Washington Quad! A renovation in 2007-2008 transformed the 2.3 acre South Hill community quadrangle from a primarily paved environment to a pervious green space with unique environmental enhancements and amenities. You will hear about the sustainable practices throughout the construction process and beyond, including the rainwater capture system that supports the plant material. The renovated space itself provides a more welcoming community gathering place for the residents of the nearby buildings, and now includes a volleyball court, barbecue grills, bicycle racks, and benches for people to enjoy the outdoors.
