Tomando distancia: la literatura como exilio
Description:
Cuban author Enrique del Risco will talk about his current projects. In particular, he will focus on his literary experience as an experience of exile from nationalistic and predictable identity politics. (Lecture will be in Spanish).
Enrique Del Risco graduated from the Universidad de La Habana in 1990 with a degree in History and received his doctorate in Latin American Literature from NYU in 2005. His literary works have focused on analyzing the real events of contemporary Cuba by blending humor with absurd and fantastic elementsas in the book Obras encogidas (La Habana, 1992), Pérdida y recuperación de la inocencia (La Habana, 1994), Lágrimas de cocodrilo (Cádiz, 1998), and El Comandante ya tiene quien le escriba (Miami, 2003).
