"Speaking of Books": James Gimpel on "Our Patchwork Nation"

Description:
Professor James Gimpel of the Department of Government and Politics will discuss his recent book "Our Patchwork Nation: The Surprising Truth about the Real America (coauthored with Dante Chinni). Rejecting a simplistic division of the country into blue and red states, the book argues that the nation more accurately breaks down into twelve distinct kinds of communities, with differing patterns of voting and other behavior. Our Patchwork Nation is a refreshing look at how America's diversities often defy conventional wisdom. Copies of the book will be available for sale and signing. Refreshments will be served. The event is free. {Will appear in FYI on Oct 5, 2011
