International Film Series - Free Screening - Kuhle Wampe

Please join the Graduate Field Committee in Film Studies for our latest film of the fall semester. This event is free and open to the public, and a short discussion with pizza will take place after the film. 'Kuhle Wampe' is a Weimar Germany film classic that uses an avant-garde, fragmented narrative to tell the story of a working-class family in Berlin in 1931. Already censored in March 1932, the film was then banned by the Nazis in 1933 for having "communist tendencies." The International Film Series is co-sponsored by School of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures, the College of Arts and Humanities, the Department of English, the Center for Literary and Comparative Studies, and the Institute for International Programs. {Will appear in FYI on Oct 19, 2011
