Controlling the Cost of Health Care: Opportunities for Public Health Innovation

Dr. Joshua Sharfstein, Secretary of the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene for Maryland, will provide a vision for the transformation of health care in Maryland with his Public Health Grand Rounds visit. Hundreds of thousands of Marylanders will benefit from the Affordable Care Act & through insurance reform, high risk pools, and the health insurance exchange that goes into business in 2014. State and federal officials are creatively considering new ways to deliver and finance health care that reduce preventable admissions and re-admissions while better controlling costs. Local health officers are leading public health efforts around the state to prevent chronic illness. Join us on Monday, October 24 at 2 PM to more about how Maryland is tackling exploding health care costs and promoting better public health.
