UMD Wind Ensemble (Fall 2011)
Description:
The UMD Wind Ensemble will transport listeners across centuries and through numerous musical styles in a program that has something for everyone.
Contemporary works include the serene and tranquil tone poem of Eric Whitacre's October and the fast and furious pace of Adam Gorb's Adrenaline City, inspired by both the stress and vibrancy of the twenty-first century city life.
In contrast, the ensemble will take you back to the Late-Renaissance brass choir music of Giovanni Gabrielli and Late-Romantic wind music of Anton DvoYák's Serenade for Winds, punctuated with a lighter Percy Grainger piece, Molly on the Shore.
