The Impact of Mass Incarceration on the Black Community

In 2011 more African-American men are incarcerated than were enslaved than in 1850. 1 in 8 of all of the world's prisoners is African-American. And almost half of the US's 2.5 million prisoners is black, despite representing only 13 percent of the US population. Owning private prisons in the US is now a booming business with prison corporations now being found on the stock market. Please join us for this important panel and community centered forum that will be education and solutions oriented. This event is being sponsored by the Black Male Initiative Program and Howard University's, Students Against Mass Incarceration.
