Peace Corps at 50: Celebrating the Impact of Host Country Women on Volunteers

Description:
Since President John F. Kennedy established the Peace Corps in 1961, more than 200,000 Peace Corps volunteers have served in 139 countries. Over the last 50 years, thousands of volunteers have been influenced by the strength, intelligence and determination of women in communities around the world. Join Peace Corps Director Aaron S. Williams and President Wallace Loh in celebrating womens contributions to international development. A panel of returned volunteers will share stories about how their lives were changed by working with women in their host communities. Dancers from the School of Theatre, Dance and Performance Arts will perform, and UMDs Peace Corps Recruiter will be available to answer questions. Refreshments will be served. www.peacecorps.gov erooney@umd.edu {Will appear in FYI on Nov 7, 2011
