3rd Annual Biomedical Sciences Day: Personalized Medicine Progress, Products, Patients and Policy

Personalized medicine is a model emphasizing customization of healthcare, with all practices tailored to individual patients. Recently, this has involved the systematic use of genetic information about the patient to select preventative and therapeutic care. Of all the scientific and social promises that stem from advances in our understanding of the human genome, the prospect of examining a person's entire genome, in order to make individualized risk predictions and treatment decisions is within our reach. A poster session highlighting undergraduate and graduate student research in Biological Sciences, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Respiratory Therapy will precede an expert panel discussion. {Will appear in FYI on Nov 8, 2011
