Arboretum Walk: Birding at the Wooded Hillock
Description:
You don't have to travel far and wide to see an amazing variety of birds, just bring your binoculars and wear your sturdy shoes for a birding adventure in the Wooded Hillock on the North edge of campus. With luck, and the practiced eye of our guide, Urban Forestry major Sarah Zastrow, we may spot American Robins, Carolina Chickadees, Carolina Wrens, Blue Jays, White-throated Sparrows, Dark-eyed Juncos, Red-shouldered Hawks, Northern Cardinals, Northern Mockingbirds, Downy Woodpeckers, Northern Flickers, Song Sparrows, and, possibly, Ruby-crowned Kinglets. Dress for the weather, and for hiking through the woods. If you have an extra pair of binoculars to share, please bring them.
