MAPP Lecture | Beth Weinstein: "Collaborations in Space and Time" | Wednesday, Feb. 22, 6:15pm
Description:
Architect Beth Weinstein, Assistant Professor at the University of Arizona, and curator of the exhibit, "The Collaborative Legacy of Merce Cunningham," will speak on cross-disciplinary collaboration, a current research topic. She will discuss choreographer Merce Cunningham's work, as well as collaborations between architects and choreographers included in the Kibel Gallery's current exhibitions.
Weinstein is a registered architect whose spatial practice focuses on collaborative performance projects in and out of proscenium space. Her work focuses on sites of intersection between architectural and choreographic practices, ranging from the scale of the drawing board to urban space and landscapes. Prof. Weinstein studied design at Syracuse University (BFA) and earned her Master of Architecture from Columbia University. Before forming her own practice, Weinstein was a project architect in the Paris office of Jean Nouvel.
A reception, organized by NOMAS, follows the lecture.
