Arboretum Talk Film: The Social Life of Small Urban Spaces

Description:
Travel back in time and view a classic film of the 1970s on classic technology from the 1970s! The Social Life of Small Urban Spaces is a groundbreaking documentary by William H. Whyte about the ways people really use outdoor public spaces, and was a wake-up call for urban designers everywhere. The UMD library copy is on VHS, so well be gathered around the cathode ray tube for this one. Join us to see the movie, and then again on Thursday, May 3rd to test out Whytes theories on our own Hornbake Plaza with Landscape Architecture professor Dr. Chris Ellis. {Will appear in FYI on Feb 22, 2012
