Building Latinia: Constructing Cultural Identity Through Digital Stories

In this talk, Professor Ana Patricia Rodríguez from the Department of Spanish and Portuguese discusses the making of "Latinia, UMD," a collaborative, community-based digital storytelling project in one of her classes. Students produced multimedia products incorporated into a live performance of "Latinia, UMD," featuring the local performance artist, Quique Avilés. To tell their collective stories, student groups produced digital stories on film, in Prezi, and through the spoken word. Dr. Rodríguez will speak on the process of constructing, representing, and digitalizing stories. All faculty and staff are welcome to join the discussion. This is a great opportunity for instructors to bring their ideas and questions to an open forum where we can discuss and learn from each other. No registration is required. Light refreshments will be provided. This event is open for all faculty and staff who enjoy participating in a lively discussion. {Will appear in FYI on Mar 8, 2012
