Morocco: Political and Social Development
Description:
Join us at Development Circle to explore the depths of Morocco. On December 31, 2011, nineteen UMD students boarded a plane for Morocco. Students were based in Rabat, where they were paired with home-stay families in the Rabat Medina (old city). Through this life-changing experience, students learned about the varied identities that co-exist peacefully, though not always in harmony, in Morocco; the strong, intelligent, and deft monarchy, which is able to rule effectively with just the right degree of concessions to its people; and the prevalence of vast inequalities despite improvements in overall poverty. Students will present these and other findings and offer their own suggestions for the future of this dynamic and captivating country.
Lunch will be served.
