Creating and Evaluating Online Courses and Textbooks, by Prof. John W. Moore University of Wisconsin-Madison
Description:
For the past three years Prof Moore have been teaching courses in which students who want to can obtain all course materials online. There are four components of the system: the Moodle open-source course management system; Feedback Manager, a Moodle add-on that enables grading of open-ended, essay questions with direct feedback to students; ChemPRIME, an online wiki textbook for general chemistry; and ChemPaths, a system for presenting ChemPRIME content in small chunks and instructor-specified order-a customizable online textbook. ChemPRIME and ChemPaths are freely available through the Chemical Education Digital Library (http://www.chemeddl.org/).
