2nd Annual Hellman Life Sciences Lecture: The Disappearing Spoon

Description:
The Lee Hellman Lecture in the Life Sciences celebrates the work and life of Dr. Lee Hellman, Emeritus Professor of Entomology and Founding Director of College Park ScholarsLife Sciences. This year's Hellman Lecturer is Mr. Sam Kean, the author of "The Disappearing Spoon and Other True Tales of Madness, Love, and the History of the World from the Periodic Table of the Elements." Mr. Kean is now a writer in Washington. He has written for "The New York Times Magazine," "Science," and "Slate," and has been featured on NPRs Radiolab and All Things Considered. The Disappearing Spoon, his first book, was a New York Times national bestseller. The lecture begins at 4:30 PM in the large chemistry lecture room (CHM 1407) preceded at 3:45 PM with light refreshments in the adjacent Chemistry Atrium. Mr. Kean will be available after the lecture to sign books that can be purchased at the event. {Will appear in FYI on Apr 2, 2012
