MechE Seminar TODAY! - Three-Dimensional Atomic Force Microscopy and its Applications

Description:
"Three-Dimensional Atomic Force Microscopy and its Applications" Presented by: Prof. Udo D. Schwarz (Department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science, Yale University) Abstract: Schwarz will use an oxygen-terminated copper (001) surface to demonstrate that much information can be derived from combining three-dimensional atomic force microscopy, a variant of noncontact atomic force microscopy, with scanning tunneling microscopy. Bio: Dr. Udo D. Schwarz received his Ph.D. in physics from the University of Basel (Switzerland). He joined the faculty of Yale University in 2002. His research centers on the nanometer-scale mechanical, chemical, and physical properties of surfaces and interfaces. {Will appear in FYI on Apr 10, 2012
