FLASH MOB!
Description:
Prepare to be amazed in the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center Grand Pavilion on Tuesday, May 8 at 3:30. The University of Maryland Symphony Orchestra (UMSO) and University of Maryland Concert Choir combine into a 260-member ensemble to put courageous spin on traditional classical music performance: a flash mob style rendition of Mahlers Symphony No. 2, Resurrection.
The flash mob is spearheaded by UMSOs New Lights Student Committee, a part of the School of Musics larger New Lights initiative that aims to generate new audiences by presenting classical music in inventive, relevant contexts for modern audiences. In order to accomplish these goals, students and faculty incorporate unconventional performance practice, technology and other artistic disciplines into the concert experience.
