Valera and Natasha Cherkashin, visual artists: From Soviet to Global Underground
Description:
Valera & Natasha Cherkashin now live and work in New York . They met in the Moscow Metro in 1982 and have collaborated since then, exploring the cultures of the Soviet Union, Russia, the United States, Great Britain, Germany, Spain, Japan, China, France, and Italy for more than two decades. They have held more than 100 individual exhibits and more than 100 performances in museums like The Art Institute of Chicago, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, or the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. Their work has been featured in 40 television programs including CNN, Deutsche Welle, Russian TV.
The lecture will include several major periods of artistic work and life of Valera & Natasha Cherkashin from 1962 to present.
