Villages in Partnerhsip - Malawi
Description:
This wee at EESG, the founder of Villages in Partnership - Malawi will be joining us to share her experience working in Africa. Liz Heinzel-Nelson has spent the past few years working in Malawi to help transform a life of poverty to sustainable communities. She is excited to share her experiences with us and hopes to reach out to UMD students and faculty that would be interested in joining her cause.
Villages In Partnership is a non-profit development organization working in Malawi, Africa. VIP seeks to develop partnerships between "villages" in the USA with the villages in Sakata to lift people out of extreme poverty. Extreme poverty is crushing and complicated. To make a lasting sustainable change in the lives of the people demands an interdisciplined approach to development. VIP, through it's partnerships, strategizes with the villagers on how to bring about transformation for the entire area through simultaneously attacking the causes of poverty.
