University of Maryland Celebrates Latino Heritage Month With Opening Ceremony

The University of Maryland's Latino Heritage Month Opening Ceremony will be held on Monday, September 17 in the Colony Ballroom of the Adele H. Stamp Student Union on the campus, starting at 6:00 p.m. The event is free and open to all. The ceremony theme is  One Nation: Life, Liberty and Justice for All or Una Nacion: Vida, Libertad, Y Justicia Para Todos. Speakers include distinguished members of the University of Maryland campus community: Dr. Mark Brimhall-Vargas, Associate Director, Office of Diversity Education and Compliance; Dr. Michelle Espino, Assistant Professor, Department of Counseling, Higher Education and Special Education; Dr. Ana Patricia Rodriguez, Associate Professor, Department of Spanish and Portuguese and U.S. Latina/o Studies; and Dr. William John Hanna, Professor, Department of Urban Studies. The ceremony is being held in conjunction with numerous Latino Heritage Month activities sponsored by various campus departments and student organizations. {Will appear in FYI on Sep 14, 2012
