MechE Seminar TODAY! - Full Field 3D Imaging and Analysis of Heterogeneous Functional Materials for Energy Systems

Description:
"Full Field 3D Imaging and Analysis of Heterogeneous Functional Materials for Energy Systems" Presented by: Dr. Wilson Chiu (University of Connecticut) Abstract: Materials used in energy storage and conversion (e.g. fuel cells, batteries, electrolyzers) all contain heterogeneous functional materials (HeteroFoaMs) that exhibit functional behavior that controls their performance as an energy system. This seminar presents a non-destructive approach to image and characterize HeteroFoaMs using a synchrotron-based transmission x-ray microscope. Bio: Dr. Wilson K.S. Chiu is a professor in the University of Connecticuts Department of Mechanical Engineering. He earned his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Rutgers University. {Will appear in FYI on Nov 2, 2012
