CTE Workshop(Oct.25):The Beauty and The Beast: Redesigning Introductory Courses with the Best of (Active) Blended Learning
Description:
The Center for Teaching Excellence invites to join the workshop The Beauty & The Beast: Redesigning Introductory Courses with the Best of (Active)
Blended Learning on October 25 (Thursday).
There is often a large demand for our introductory level courses, and it is challenging to make those courses enriching and engaging experiences we want
to deliver (the beauty) without creating a course that cripples your department's resources (the beast). We will present a pilot redesign and evaluation of a large introductory psychology course, in which technology was utilized to increase active learning rather than replace it. As an added bonus, we were able to offer this redesigned course with a 50 percent
reduction in the number of teaching assistant hours typically required to support the course.
