Irish Ambassador to launch new Maryland Global Leaders speaker series

Irish Ambassador, H.E. Michael Collins, will visit UMD on Nov. 12 to offer a public presentation on the topic, Towards Economic Recovery  Irelands Story. His talk is the first event in the new Maryland Global Leaders Program, a joint effort of the Office of International Affairs and the Maryland School of Public Policy. This series will bring to College Park important international leaders from the diplomatic, business, and non-governmental community of DC, and beyond. Amb. Collins has made supporting Irish business and economic development a particular focus of his five-year tenure in the US. His distinguished career has also included, however, an important stint working for the Prime Minister (Taoiseach), including participation in all negotiations leading to the Northern Ireland Peace accord. Amb. Collins' presentation will be followed by audience Q&A. UMD students are particularly encouraged to attend and participate. lunch provided. rsvp requested. {Will appear in FYI on Nov 5, 2012
