CISSM Forum | "Can Congress Cooperate on Nuclear Weapons?" | Leonor Tomero

Leonor Tomero serves as Counsel on the House Armed Services Committee where she covers non-proliferation and strategic forces issues, including nuclear weapons, nuclear clean-up, missile defense and national security space issues. Until April 2010, she was the Director of Nuclear Non-Proliferation at the Center for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation. Previously, she was Program Director and then President of the Lawyers Alliance for World Security where she led Track II programs to strengthen U.S. and international efforts in support of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. She also served on the staffs of Nevada Democratic Sen. Harry Reid and Nevada Democratic Rep. Shelley Berkley, working on nuclear waste, energy, and environmental issues. She holds a B.A. from Cornell University, an M.A. in security studies from Georgetown University and a J.D., cum laude, from American University, is a member of the Maryland bar, and is a term-member of the Council on Foreign Relations. {Will appear in FYI on Jan 24, 2013
