Ancient Spiritual Practices

Join the Episcopal Chaplaincy for the Ancient Spiritual Practices Exploration on September 9th, 2013, from 7:30PM to 9:00PM in the Memorial Chapel Lounge. Drawing from multiple contemplative traditions, primarily Hindu, Christian, Buddhist, Sufi, and Jewish, this spiritual community engages in different forms of spiritual practices that have been in use for thousands of years and share a set of common goals: increased self awareness, discipline of the mind, and expansion of ones capacity to engage the multiple dimensions of the spiritual world. Past explorations have included contemplation of images, chakra awareness and mystical interpretation of sacred texts including spiritual poetry. The community regularly engages the labyrinth (a sacred maze used for either movement meditation or movement contemplation), mindfulness meditation, and visualization based spirit-journey. {Will appear in FYI on Aug 30, 2013
