Wellness Tip of the Week: Train like your live

Functional Training, a cutting edge trend in the wellness world, involves training the body for daily living. We rarely fall with our feet firmly rooted on the ground and our core engaged. Try using your environment and everyday tasks to functionally train (e.g., squat and pick up a filled grocery bag and lift overhead to a cabinet.) Training in this manner helps prevent injury as well as makes you stronger and more capable of doing the things you enjoy. Campus Recreation Services (CRS) now offers a functional training studio in Eppley Recreation Center and specialty programs to teach you to train in this manner effectively and safely. The space is open to all CRS members and features TRX trainers, stability balls, medicine balls, foam rollers and more.
