MAPP Lecture and Symposium: Conflict and Convergence: Urban Informality in Latin America | Friday-Saturday, October 4-5, 2013

Conflict and Convergence: Urban Informality in Latin America is a symposium aiming to explore how recent experiences in citiessuch as Medellín, Bogotá, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Caracas, among otherscan serve as multidisciplinary models for urban and social revitalization in other parts of the world. The event will bring together participants representing a wide spectrum of disciplines, and seeks to generate a conversation among professionals and academics to analyze the goals, methods, achievements and opportunities in the region. The symposium begins with a lecture by Alfredo Brillembourg, of Urban-Think Tank in Caracas, Venezuela, on Friday at 5pm, and continues on Saturday, October 5 beginning at 10:00am. Saturdays speakers include: Jorge Mario Jauregui, Felipe Hernandez, Fernando Luiz Lara, Jorge Perez Jaramillo, Anna Wellenstein and Entre Nos Atelier.
