MAPP Lecture: Dan Kaplan, FAIA LEED  Climate, Culture & Myth: Explorations in Sustainable Architecture | Monday, October 28, 2013 | 5:00pm

Description:
Daniel J. Kaplan is a senior partner at FXFOWLE Architects and the design director of FXFOWLEs Urban Studio where his passion and preoccupation is sustainable city building. The studios mission is to explore and investigate the intersection of architecture, urban planning and sustainable innovation. By combining these interrelated areas of focus, design and sustainability are addressed through an appreciation for the urban condition. Kaplan and the Urban Studio approach each project, from individual buildings to large-scale urban plans, with the viewpoint that it must contribute to the larger context. Kaplans unique approach was honored in 2010 by World Architecture News and the Architectural Review; his Nordhavnen: City Regenerative project in Copenhagen was recognized with top honors in urban design for 2009. In addition to Dans role at FXFOWLE, he is currently a Visiting Lecturer at Cornells College of Architecture Art and Planning, where he teaching a course on Sustainability. {Will appear in FYI on Oct 21, 2013
