Advent Labyrinth Walks

Description:
During Advent, Christians prepare for Christmas taking note that our world still waits for God to bring peace and wholeness. We take stock of the ways we wait and yearn for hope, peace, joy and love. We take time to prepare the way for God to bring wholeness into our lives and our world. Worshiping congregations put this yearning into a practice with four candles of an Advent Wreath. The United Methodists at UMD are putting this into practice during the last three Thursdays of the semester, taking the Advent Wreath to the Labyrinth. Each week there will be a short reflection printed at the start of the Labyrinth on one of the themes of the Advent Wreath. There, participants can pick up a candle to carry to the center where it can be left at an Advent Wreath display. Rather than lighting one candle each week, this Advent countdown will be lit by our collected candles, representing our yearnings for hope, peace, joy and love. All are welcome. {Will appear in FYI on Nov 27, 2013
