Immigration in Film Series: Sleep Dealer

Please join the Center for the History of the New America for the last film screening in our Fall 2013 Immigration in Film Series! Set in Mexico in a bleak future where the borders have been sealed, vast computer networks commodify memories, and private companies have taken control of the water supply, tech-savvy "campesino" Memo Cruz discovers a mysterious transmission that seems to be a blueprint for a future city. Sleep Dealer explores neoliberalism and immigration through dystopian science fiction. Professor Rob Chester will lead a discussion afterwards. Free and open to the public.
