Maryland's Downton Abbey, on MPT this Sunday

Are you a Downton denizen? Then tune in ahead of this Sunday's Maryland Public Television Broadcast, to watch Kiplin Hall: Birthplace of Maryland. Kiplin Hall, an impressive 400-year-old country estate in North Yorkshire, was was built by George Calvert, first Lord Baltimore, who is considered the founder of Mary-land. Because Kiplin is located just north of the Ripon-Thirsk region, it has been called "Maryland's Real Life Downton Abbey." Barely spared the wrecking ball in the 1950s and 1960s, its revival was assisted by Marylanders, including a long stream of students from the University of Maryland beginning in the 1980s. Kiplin Hall: Birthplace of Maryland airs Sunday, Jan. 26th at 7:30pm immediately before Downton Abbey episode four. {Will appear in FYI on Jan 24, 2014
