ENST Spring 2014 Seminar Series: 2/12/14, Jay Pendergrass - "Using Science in Environmental Law and Policy", 4:00 PM, ANS 0408

Jay Pendergrass (Senior Attorney and Director of the Climate and Energy Program at the Environmental Law Institute in D.C.) will discuss the underlying roles scientists and technical experts play in domestic legislative, regulatory, and judicial contexts, as well as broader international forums. The relationship between environmental scientists and policymakers is distinct in each of these four contexts. From local crisis-driven legislation in the U.S. to international treaties covering global climate change, Mr. Pendergrass will draw on his experiences with the ELI to illuminate the impact of science and scientists on the global environment through law and policy.
