Code for Community Competition: Lessons Learned

The Code for Community Competition challenged teams of undergraduate students to create a mobile or web based app to meet a community need. The competition was designed to blend student interest in technology with a knowledge about community. It provided a learning experience to complement the classroom lecture model and the service learning model. In this presentation Dr. Alex Chen, Associate Dean from The Graduate School and Associate Professor from the Urban Studies and Planning Program, will examine the lessons learned from this experience, in terms of development and implementation, as well as the perceived impact on students. This is a great opportunity for instructors to bring their ideas and questions to an open forum where we can discuss and learn from each other. Light refreshments will be served. {Will appear in FYI on May 1, 2014
