Plant Science Lecture Series 4/30/14 Presents Dr. Lucia Strader, Washington University, St. Louis; 4:00 p.m., PLS 1130

Description:
Plant Science Lecture Series 4/30/14 Presents Dr. Lucia Strader, Washington University, St. Louis; 4:00 p.m., PLS 1130 Seminar Title: “Refining the auxin signaling model” Auxin is a critical plant hormone that regulates every aspect of plant growth and development. ARF transcription factors control auxin-regulated gene transcription and their activity is regulated by Aux/IAA repressor proteins. The Strader Lab has discovered that dimerization of the repressor with the transcription factor is insufficient to repress activity, suggesting that multimerization is the mechanism of repressing ARF transcriptional activity, refining the auxin signaling model. Light refreshments and water will be provided. In our efforts to practice sustainability, it would be helpful if you would please bring your own water bottles, cups, etc. For further information, contact Dr. Angus Murphy, asmurphy@umd.edu.
