Wellness Tip of the Week: Protect against ticks

Did you know that Maryland has one of the highest rates of tick-borne diseases in the country? To protect yourself during warm weather months, avoid tall grasses and try to stay in the center of trails when walking or hiking. Use tick and bug repellant with DEET on your clothes and skin, following the directions on the bottle. When you get home, be sure to perform a full-body tick check (including your head and under your clothes, and using a mirror for harder to see areas).
