Wikipedia Edit-A-Thon!

Description:
The Historic Maryland Newspapers Project at UMD Libraries will be hosting a daylong Wikipedia edit-a-thon on August 18 in Hornbake Library. In the morning, we will have presentations from Deb Thomas, Library of Congress; Leo Zimmerman, Wikimedia DC; our own Wikipedian-in-Residence Donald Taylor and Manger of Special Collections Doug McElrath. The rest of the day will be devoted to research and Wikipedia editing. All faculty, staff, students, and community members are invited to join us! We will be live streaming the morning presentations using Adobe Connect: https://webmeeting.umd.edu/chronicling-america-edit-a-thon/. The meeting will remain active all day if remote participants have questions or want to chat with each other. No prior experience with Wikipedia is necessary! In fact, we’ll have a tutorial on the basics of editing Wikipedia for those who are new. Hope you can join us! {Will appear in FYI on Aug 12, 2014
