Great ShakeOut

Description:
On October 16, 2014 at 10:16 a.m., UMD will participate in the world's largest earthquake drill. This will be the university's second year participating in this event. On this day, the university will test its newest emergency alert system. The police will send out an alert via UMD Alerts. These alerts will be sent to UMD email accounts as well as registered cell phones. If you have not registered your cell phone, please visit www.alert.umd.edu. On October 16 at approximately 10:16a.m., we encourage you to practice the protective actions of "Drop, Cover, Hold on". This means to drop to the ground, cover your body (especially your head) with a sturdy object such as a table, desk, or chair; and hold on to that sturdy object.
